TOGAF 9 Course – Level 1 & Level 2 (Combined)

TOGAF® 9 is a proven enterprise architecture methodology and framework used by the world’s leading organisations to improve business efficiency. Enterprise architecture professionals fluent in TOGAF enjoy greater industry credibility, job effectiveness, and career opportunities.

Get certified in TOGAF 9 with this powerful 4-day training program. The course focuses on the practical application of TOGAF in realistic enterprise architecture scenarios and provides thorough coverage of the knowledge needed for Level 1 / Level 2 certification.

The course is structured into two 2-day modules Foundation (Level 1) and Certified (Level 2). Modules can be taken separately although most prefer to take the combined course.

TOGAF 9 Level 1 (Foundation) (2 days)

This module covers the Foundation Level 1 curriculum including terminology, structure, basic concepts of TOGAF 9, and the core principles of Enterprise Architecture. As well as the theory, the course includes many examples of architecture deliverables and artifacts. The course prepares participants to undertake the TOGAF Level 1 (Foundation) exam.

TOGAF 9 Level 2 (Certified) (2 days)

This second module focuses on the practical application of the TOGAF® 9 framework. It builds on the foundational knowledge of Level 1 using practical scenarios to reinforce concepts.  The focus is on application and analysis in addition to knowledge and comprehension.

"The course met the expectations brilliantly. Axel is extremely passionate about the subject and the sessions prove that. The course material and the teaching have provided me with substantial confidence and knowledge to attempt the exam. Thank you ALC and Axel."

The Course Delivery

ALC’s 4-day TOGAF® 9 Course – level 1 & 2 goes more and more practical throughout the week with a very hands on teaching approach. Our facilitator ensures the clients are able to “think on their own” which is required by a certified level of applied knowledge < this is the focus of the level 2 exam.

Our trainers use contextualised videos and storytelling based on their real world experience as well as unique (sometimes tailored) exercises, applicative test questions, group scenarios as well as the official practice exams. The practice exams are held at the end of each level to maximise our participants understanding of the content and increase their chances of success in the official exams.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to attend the TOGAF 9.2 Level 1 (Foundation) course. For Certified Level 2 it is expected that participants have passed the TOGAF 9.2 Level 1 (Foundation) exam.

The TOGAF Combined exam

"Hi Ax. I was lucky enough to attend your TOGAF course in Perth a few weeks ago. Today I sat my combined exam and managed 95% in section 1, and 90% in section 2! I’m very happy with that result Thank you for setting me up for success. "

- Todd Walker, LinkedIn Post

A Combined exam voucher is issued to participants at the end of the course. The best way to think of the combined exam is that it is one exam session with two parts.  The Combined candidate sits both parts consecutively, with Level 2 immediately following Level 1. Each part must be passed in order to obtain an overall pass. If you fail one part then no certification is awarded, however you only need retake the failed part.  So for example if you fail Level 1, you need only retake the Level 1 exam. But you need to wait at least one month before you are allowed to retake an examination.  If an exam is failed it is up to the candidate to purchase another voucher if they wish to have another attempt. Candidates who pass both exams are awarded TOGAF 9 Level 2 certification.

Level 1 (Foundation) Exam
  • Certification is only achieved by passing the examination
  • The exam is in closed-book format, and includes 40 multiple-choice questions
  • The pass score is 55% (22 out of 40 questions)
  • Duration of exam is 60 minutes
Level 2 (Practitioner) Exam
  • The exam is in open-book format
  • Comprises 8 complex multiple-choice scenario-based questions
  • The pass score is 60% (24 out of 40 points)
  • Duration of the exam is 90 minutes

Exam Details

The TOGAF exams are administered by the Open Group at a Pearson Vue test centre.

  • Candidates will receive exam vouchers after the course
  • The exam is taken AFTER the course, at a suitable time
  • The Combined Exam Voucher is valid for 12 months
  • If an exam is failed it is up to the candidate to purchase another voucher if they wish to have another attempt
  • Candidates cannot be awarded the Level 2 Certificate until they have passed both exams

TOGAF Exam pass / fail scenarios:

  • Fail level 1 / Fail level 2. No certificate awarded, can be undertaken as a combined exam or two separate exams no less than one month later.
  • Pass level 1 / Fail level 2. Level 1 certificate awarded, Level 2 exam can be undertaken no earlier than one month later.
  • Fail level 1 / Pass level 2. No certificate awarded. Level 1 exam can be undertaken no earlier than one month later.  Once level 1 is passed in this scenario a level 2 certificate will be awarded.
  • Pass level 1 / Pass level 2. Level 2 certificate only awarded. Level 2 status means Level 1 has also been attained.
