Business Continuity and COVID-19
There is a lot of uncertainty around COVID-19. All organisations and individuals have to set their own approach concerning risk management and how they ensure their business continuity.
This document outlines mutliple ways we are addressing business continuity at ALC in response to the COVID-19 situation. The world doesn’t have to stop. Training is essential if people and organisations are to progress, and we are here to continue to provide the first-class training that you are accustomed to receive from ALC.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, ALC has taken immediate measures to ensure the safety of our team through the implementation of several proactive steps to manage the risk of exposure and reduce the risk of transmission.
At each office location, we have in place the necessary safety measures and additional protocols to ensure the safety of our staff. We have also implemented a new working arrangement on 30 March, for all of our employees who can work from home, to do so where possible. If the capability was not in place, we proceeded to make the technology available so as to ensure all team members were able to work from home as soon as possible and be able to support and look after our customers from anywhere!
ALC is closely monitoring the situation here in Australia as well as in countries we operate and will continue to adhere to the guidelines by local authorities, prioritising the safety of our staff and their families as well as the wider network of our partners and customers.
Public Courses – Face-to-Face (Coming Back Soon…)
At this stage based on government restrictions still in place, Face-to-Face public courses are currently not available. ALC run our Face-to-Face courses out of hotel venues in the CBD. Currently as most hotels are being used for Quarantine venues, we do not have a safe venue to run the course from. As hotel’s start to re-open to the public, we will again start to look into the options to deliver courses Face-to-Face again, adhering to all health and safety protocols including applicable social distancing requirements, hand sanitizing stations etc.
Virtual Attendance – the Next Best Thing (Available Now!)
As classroom attendance is currently not available, we now have Live Virtual Attendance available for most of our courses. We know it’s not quite as good as being there, but it’s the next best thing given the circumstance! Most people are very pleasantly surprised and some even prefer this delivery method.
ALC has a 26-year history of providing first-class face-to-face training. In mid-April this year, following the restrictions caused by COVID-19, we ran our first Live Virtual course…..CCSP. The evaluations were outstanding. Since then we have presented more than 40 courses in the Live Virtual format, including CRISC, PRINCE2, AgilePM, Scrum, CISSP, Change Management, ITIL & more.
All you need is a computer and a good internet connection. Virtual Attendance is a well-established and proven delivery method. It is not like a webinar where you are a passive viewer. The technology is designed to allow you to be an active member of the class – to interact with other participants and with the instructor, Live!

With regards to the software, we’ve chosen Zoom as the delivery platform for our Live Virtual Training as the features serve the trainer and training requirements best. It allows our LVT (Live Virtual Training) sessions to be as close to a face-to-face session as possible considering the current situation.
*We know that previously, concerns have been raised regarding Zoom and security. However, the Zoom people have acknowledged this and have worked hard to address the concerns. Zoom Version 5.0 has since been released. This features GCM encryption across the entire Zoom platform, providing increased protection for meeting data. (We have had government departments successfully gain approvals to use Zoom as a result of this security upgrade).
We are satisfied that Zoom Version 5.0 represents an excellent choice for our virtual training – it provides arguably the best user experience and now incorporates standard good practice security.
In-House Training – the training you need in an environment that you control
In-house training is a popular option. To make it even more cost effective we are currently offering special pricing for select courses. So even if you have a group as small as 3 or 4, in-house could well be a worthwhile option for you.
If you are concerned about attending a public course, but are not so keen on Virtual Attendance, then as long as you can pull together a group in a venue that satisfy the social distancing requirements, you can have the training your organisation needs in an environment that you control yourself.
We are happy to provide you with a no-obligation quotation. Please get in touch by email or via our web or else phone on 1300 767 592.
