Applicants must meet the following requirements to become CDPSE Certified:
- Adhere to the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Policy: The objectives of the continuing education policy are to:
- Maintain an individual’s competency by requiring the update of existing knowledge and skills in the areas of implementation of technical privacy solutions
- Provide a means to differentiate between qualified CDPSEs and those who have not met the requirements for continuation of their certification
CDPSE CPE Policy: English
- Demonstrate the Required Minimum Work Experience: A minimum of 3-years of professional implementation of technical privacy by design solutions, control or security work experience – as described in the CDPSE job practice areas – is required for certification. The work experience for CDPSE certification must be gained within the 10-year period preceding the application date for certification. Candidates have 5-years from the passing date to apply for certification.
It is important to note that many individuals choose to take the CDPSE exam prior to meeting the experience requirements. This practice is acceptable although the CDPSE designation will not be awarded until all requirements are met

- Affirm your skills in understanding compliance requirements and their ability to implement the right privacy controls.
- Focus on technical implementation and privacy best practices.

CDPSE is the first privacy-based certification that validates the certification holder’s expertise in implementing technical privacy controls into their existing and future systems, networks, and applications. CDPSE provides a valid and reliable means for enterprises to identify technologists who are competent in incorporating Privacy-by-Design (PbD) into technology platforms, products, and processes, communicating with legal professionals, and keeping the organisation compliant efficiently and cost-effectively.
CDPSE is focused on validating the technical skills and knowledge it takes to assess, build and implement comprehensive privacy solutions. CDPSE holders can fill the technical privacy skills gap so that your organisation has competent privacy technologists to build and implement solutions that mitigate privacy-related risk and enhance efficiency.
There are two stages in the certification:
The first stage is successful completion of 4 short assignments of one hour each that will be highlighted during the course and completed subsequent to the course. These assignments are open book and assessed by the trainer. They require a 75% achievement (30 marks out of 40).
After successful achievement of the assignments the formal exam can be taken.
Participants will be provided with an online exam voucher to sit the exams at a time and date of their choosing within 3 months of the course. The web-proctored exams are available 24/7 and run by the examination institute PEOPLECERT.
*As of 01 February, 2022 paper-based exams will no longer be offered by PeopleCert the examination institute for ITIL®. All exams will be conducted online. During the course you will receive an exam voucher and instructions how to book the exam for a date and time of your choice within 3 months of the course. Hi Peter, I wanted to express my thanks for the course the other week and especially the extra day of exam prep and review. I also just wanted to let you know I took my exam this week and passed which is a testament to your training as I went into this cold with no prior prep apart from your training and the materials provided. So thanks again for all the help as I really appreciated and wish you all the best for the future.

I completed the Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner course in Canberra last week and just wanted to pass on my thanks to Darilyn and the ALC team for highly worthwhile and well-run course. Darilyn was an excellent trainer and her depth of experience allowed for the seamless integration of many real-world examples/anecdotes that directly supported the theory and made the course really interesting/engaging.
