Five Day ITIL Service Manager to ITIL V3 Diploma in IT Service Management 

 

The much anticipated ITIL V3 was released to the IT Service Management market on 30 May 2007.  Whilst ITIL’s history goes back some 20 years, this newest version is perhaps more significant than the previous because of the global uptake of ITIL over the past 5 years since the release of the ITIL V2 IT Service Support and Delivery books.

 

This five day certification course will provide you with a solid understanding of what ITIL V3 comprehends, where ITIL V3 differs from ITIL V2 and more importantly what ITIL V3 has to offer your organisation. It will help you to decide if and how to best utilise ITIL V3 for your organisation. This course includes a 90 minute ITIL V3 Managers exam which will provide you with the ITIL Expert certificate.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will develop an indepth knowledge and understanding in line with the ITIL V3 Expert certificate in IT Service Management.

Course Outline

The course covers two parts:

 

1. Those areas and components that are new to ITIL V3 that will form the main focus for the qualification
2. Those areas and components that were well known at V2, but have undergone some significant differences

The course is aimed to raise understanding of, and competence in the following areas:

  • ITIL V3, What is new?
  • Service Management as a practice
  • Service lifecycle
  • Key principles, process areas and functions
  • The interrelationships of the ITIL processes throughout the lifecycle
  • Technology and architecture
  • Implementation considerations
  • Interfaces with related industry standards and frameworks.

Additionally the course includes a half day workshop which help yo to determine if and how ITIL V3 can help to make further improvements in your organisation. It includes:

  • Discussion on the impact ITIL V3 has on your current process maturity and on any current ITIL initiatives
  • Transition to ITIL V3 or stay with V2?
  • Costs and benefits of ITIL V3
  • Developing your ITIL V3 roadmap

Who Should Attend

The ITIL V3 Master Bridging Course is appropriate for everybody who holds a valid ITIL Manager’s certificate.

Learning Method

This course is instructor led with limited class size (min. 6; max. 16). Participants undertake practical activities to ensure understanding of concepts and terminology.

Pre-Requisites

Course participants must hold the Managers Certificate in IT Service Management from a previous version of ITIL. Significant work experience in IT services is also highly recommended. Candidates must provide their ITIL Managers Certificate before the course.

ITIL Simulation

The course features extensive and innovative use of ITIL simulation to provide additional knowledge and experience in the running of an IT organisation and the implementation of ITIL. Course participants are placed in the shoes of an organisation doing its best to maximise revenue through day-to-day operations. There are several rounds of simulation interspersed between course modules. Participants work together in a variety of roles to improve ITIL processes so as to achieve business goals. Improvements are demonstrated through a balanced approach encompassing people, process and technology.

Certification and Examination

This ITIL V3 Service Manager Bridging Course is tailored to meet the requirements of the ITIL V3 Diploma qualification offered by the international ITIL Examination Institute APMG. The exam is a 90-minute, 20-question multiple-choice examination scheduled on the last day of the course. A pass mark of 80% (16/20 correct answers) is required to receive your certificate.
